South Africa is a beautiful country, at least the part of it we saw the Western Cape province. Mountains rising from the sea. Rocky headlands and coves with beautiful sand beaches. Mountain sides covered in classic Mediterranean vegetation called fynbos: low shrubs, grasses, beautiful Protea flowers and heather.
Of course the area also boasts the same classic Mediterranean climate hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters as parts of Australia, Chile and California. This is the ideal climate for growing wine grapes just like in Mediterranean areas around the world! There has to be a thousand vintners in the Western Cape - all producing excellent wine.
