Quick Shots: the best of our 2 weeks in one package

Arusha is where we lived for 4 years. It is a typical city in a developing country: dusty and crowded and jammed with the traffic of people and cars. It has  an anachronistic mix of wealthy and poor: Land Cruisers and push carts; cafés and dukas; estates and shanties. If you can successfully negotiate the bicycles, push carts and daladalas on the way into town, there is something uniquely compelling about sitting in, for example, Big Bite, and hearing the Muslim call to prayer as you enjoy the best in Indian food.

Our good friends the Liekes hosted us for the two weeks in their newly-built guesthouse – complete with a great view across the korongo to the Simanjiro Plain. It was great to be with them again! We had an amazing, jam-packed two weeks of visiting friends and old haunts including Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
